JATS elements in abstract (Is this the expected behaviour?)

Hello there,

I saw that jats elements are being stored in the abstract field while fetching article metadata using the Crossref API.

As for example: 10.7202/1104262ar

Is this the expected behaviour?

It means we should parser the content of this field as an XML.

Is this a particularity of this field, or there are other fields being implementing as this. Is there a documentation that describes this behaviour?

Hi Fabio,

Yes, that is the expected behavior.

The abstract element in our schema is borrowed from the JATS schema, so any markup tags supported by JATS (e.g. <jats:p>) are allowed within the abstracts.
