How to provide DOI number for old already published article

How to provide DOI number for old already published article
becouse we not modify this PDF file
so please suggest best way to get our old publised articles.

Hello @gimrj12 ,

Thanks for your message. You’ll need to give your legacy, already-published articles DOIs. If you have not yet distributed or published DOIs for this legacy content, you may register DOIs for this content following this advice:

As you may know, Crossref doesn’t assign DOIs to your content for you. Instead, we assign you a DOI prefix (a string of numbers beginning “10.” and followed by a slash “/”) and you assign your own DOIs by using that prefix and creating a suffix (any string of numbers, letters, and/or certain allowed punctuation marks following the prefix and “/”). Your DOI suffix can be any alphanumeric string, using the approved characters “a-z”, “A-Z”, “0-9” and “-._;()/”.

To review our suggested best practices for establishing DOI suffix pattern, please see the following document:

Now, you’ll also want to modify the PDF versions of your content so they also include your DOIs, since DOIs are really citation identifiers and one of the primary aims of registering DOIs for your content is to enable sharing, citing, and use of your works.

Lastly, when you do register your legacy DOIs, be sure to include the correct publication dates in your metadata, since that is how we’ll bill your registrations.

Warm regards,
Isaac
